Homeowners usually open several contractor websites and call the one that looks most trustworthy and easiest to contact. Run through this checklist and tick off what your site already does.

Above the fold (the first screen)

  1. A clear headline saying what you do and where: "Roof replacement & repair in Austin, TX".
  2. A visible phone number that's tap-to-call on mobile.
  3. One main call to action — "Get a free estimate" — repeated down the page.
  4. Instant trust signals: star rating, years in business, licensed & insured badge.

Trust and proof

  1. Real project photos and before/after galleries — not stock images.
  2. Reviews from Google, with names and locations where possible.
  3. Licences, insurance, warranties and certifications (e.g. manufacturer certifications for roofers).
  4. An about page with real people — homeowners want to know who's coming to their house.

Local SEO

  1. A separate page for each service — repairs, replacements, gutters, inspections.
  2. Service-area pages for the main towns you cover, each with genuinely local content.
  3. A fully optimised Google Business Profile linked to your site, with matching name, address and phone.
  4. Fast loading on mobile — test with Google PageSpeed Insights.

Lead capture

  1. A short quote form (name, phone, address, job type, photos) that takes under a minute.
  2. Instant response — an automated reply or AI assistant that answers in seconds (see speed to lead).
  3. Financing information for larger jobs, if you offer it.

FAQ

Common questions.

What pages should a contractor website have?

At minimum: home, one page per main service, service-area pages, project gallery, reviews, about, and a contact/estimate page.

Do contractors need a website if they have Google Business Profile?

Yes. Your profile gets you found, but your website is where homeowners compare you and decide. It also strengthens your Map Pack rankings.
